Kayak Storage Passes

The Town of Cape Carteret offers kayak storage racks for use by residents and property owners at the Anita Forte Drive, Holly Lane, and Bayshore Drive. 

A kayak storage pass is required to store kayaks at these facilities, and can be secured at Town Hall during normal business hours or by completing the online form below.  Town staff will verify residency or property ownership prior to issuing kayak storage passes.

There is a $25 annual fee for kayak storage passes, which are valid from now until December 31, 2024.

USE OF KAYAK STORAGE AT OWN RISK

I have applied to the Town of Cape Carteret, for a permit to use the property commonly described as the “KAYAK STORAGE” at street end parks on Holly Lane, Bayshore Drive and Anita Forte Drive operated by the Town as a STORAGE and LAUNCHING facility only.

In consideration of the Town issuing such permit, I hereby represent and warrant that I understand that storing and utilizing my kayak has certain attendant risks and that I am always fully responsible for my own safety as well as the safety of my property and all my guests while using the Kayak Storage facility. While on or about that property, I hereby waive all claims against the Town of Cape Carteret, its officers, commissioner, employees, and agents arising out of my use of or presence upon or about the Kayak Storage Facility. I will save and hold the Town harmless against all claims and will indemnify the Town against all claims by myself, my family and/or by any other person who is my guest or licensee upon or about the Kayak Storage Facility property at any time.

RECREATIONAL USAGE ONLY STATEMENT

2. I understand and acknowledge that the Town provides the Town of Cape Carteret’s Kayak Storage Facility exclusively for recreational purposes. I understand and acknowledge that using the Kayak Storage Facility for commercial purposes is expressly forbidden by ordinance.

I understand and acknowledge that if the Kayak Storage Facility is used for commercial purposes, my permit will be permanently revoked and that I will be subject to fines, penalties, and costs, including, but not limited to court costs, attorney fees, filing fees and costs of enforcement.

3. I understand and acknowledge that I will be subject to a $50.00 fine for Failure to display a current annual pass.

RENTAL TERM

4. I understand that the term of the Kayak Storage Facility rental is for one year, not pro-rated. If I choose to remove my kayak from the Kayak Storage Facility prior to the years end, a refund will not be issued for the remaining time of the rental agreement.  I understand that it is my responsibility to store my kayak upside down and firmly secure my kayak to the rack. I further understand that it is my responsibility to display the rental decal on my kayak while it is in storage at the Kayak Storage Facility as to not incur a fine for failure to display a current annual pass.

NAMED STORMS

5. I understand that during periods of named storms, I will be asked to temporarily remove my kayak from the rack and store them securely at my home or other safe place. . I understand that any damage incurred by my kayak while stored at the Kayak Storage Facility is solely my responsibility to rectify.
