Manatee Street Boat Ramp

The Town of Cape Carteret's public boat ramp facility is located at the end of Manatee Street, and is available for authorized users who have obtained an annual boat ramp pass from the Town. 

The Town caps the number of annual boat ramp passes issued at 285 per year, and no additional passes will be issued once the cap has been reached.  

Boat ramp passes for 2024 are currently on sale to Cape Carteret residents and property owners, and will go on sale to all others beginning on December 1.  Town staff will verify residency or property ownership before issuing annual boat ramp passes.  2024 boat ramp passes may be purchased in person at the Cape Carteret Town Hall during normal business hours or by completing the online application below.  

The annual boat ramp pass fee is $225 for Cape Carteret residents and property owners, and each property owner has the option to secure one additional pass for a second boat.  The annual boat ramp pass for residents of neighboring towns is $500, and the fee for out of area residents is $750.  Sales for areas outside of Cape Carteret go on sale on December 1, 2023. Please do not attempt to process your application online before that time. Thank you!

Unauthorized use of the Manatee Street public boat ramp facility will result in the issuance of a citation and $1,000 fine.

USE OF BOAT RAMP AT OWN RISK

1. I, the undersigned, have applied to the Town of Cape Carteret for a permit to use the property commonly described as the “Manatee Street Boat Ramp” operated by the Town as a boat launching and retrieval, including a temporary dockage area.

In consideration of the Town issuing such permit, I hereby represent and warrant that I understand that boating has certain attendant risks and that I am always fully responsible for my own safety as well as the safety of my property and all my guests while using the Manatee Street Boat Ramp. While on or about that property, I hereby waive all claims against the Town of Cape Carteret, its officers, commissioner, employees, and agents arising out of my use of or presence upon or about the Manatee Street Boat Ramp. I will save and hold the Town harmless against all claims and will indemnify the Town against all claims by myself, my family and/or by any other person who is my guest or licensee upon or about the Manatee Street Boat Ramp property at any time.

RECREATIONAL USAGE ONLY STATEMENT

2. I understand and acknowledge that the Town provides the Town of Cape Carteret’s Manatee Street Boat Ramp exclusively for recreational purposes.

I understand and acknowledge that using the Boat Ramp for commercial purposes is expressly forbidden by ordinance.

I understand and acknowledge that if the Boat Ramp is used for commercial purposes, my permit will be permanently revoked and that I will be subject to fines, penalties, and costs, including, but not limited to court costs, attorney fees, filing fees and costs of enforcement.

3. I understand and acknowledge that I will be subject to a $50.00 fine for Failure to display a current annual pass.

SALE OF VEHICLE WITH BOAT DECAL

4. If you sell your VEHICLE with the current year boat ramp pass affixed to said VEHICLE, it is your responsibility to remove the pass and turn it in to Cape Carteret Town Hall. In doing so, you will pay $25.00 for a replacement boat ramp pass for the remainder of the calendar year which ends December 31. If you do not turn in the old boat ramp pass, issuance of a new pass for your new VEHICLE for the remainder of the calendar year which ends December 31, will be the full amount for a pass $225.00 for Cape Carteret residents, $500.00 for nearby towns and $750.00 for out of town.
