Town Mourns Passing of Former Mayor Fowler


The Town of Cape Carteret mourns the loss of former Mayor Dave Fowler, who passed away on March 14, 2024 at the age of 74.


Mayor Fowler served the Town diligently for many years, beginning in 2005 as a member of the Board of Commissioners and then as Mayor from 2011 until 2019. Mayor Fowler was active in the Carteret County Republican Party, and also served as a Carteret County Commissioner prior to his long service to the Town of Cape Carteret.


Mayor Fowler's obituary can be viewed HERE , and a service will be held on Wednesday, March 20 in Cullowhee, NC. A memorial service will be held in Carteret County in the coming weeks.


The Town is thankful for Mayor Fowler's long service to the Town, and his many contributions and efforts to improve Cape Carteret over the years. The Town extends its deepest sympathy to Mayor Fowler's family and friends, including his devoted wife Wanda who is well-known in our community.


Town flags are being flown at half-staff in honor of Mayor Fowler, and will remain so until the end of the day Wednesday.
