The Carteret County Tax Administration office has mailed final notices to 10,755 taxpayers with outstanding 2023 property tax bills. Failure to pay in full by Feb. 29, 2024 will result in the advertisement of the lien on all unpaid real property, as required by state law.

Additionally, all unpaid property taxes are subject to collection enforcement actions such as bank attachment, wage garnishment, attachment of North Carolina income tax refunds, levy of personal property, and foreclosure.

Carteret County Tax Administrator, Jessica Taylor, encourages all delinquent taxpayers to make payment prior to Feb. 29, 2024 to avoid collection actions. Taxpayers experiencing financial hardship are encouraged to contact the Carteret County Tax Administration office to discuss payment options.
