Mayor David Fowler

Picture
Mayor David Fowler was born on April 23, 1949 in Asheville, North Carolina. He graduated from Western Carolina University with a BS Ed. in Middle Grades Education. He has since retired and resides at 212 Star Hill Drive with his wife, Wanda Nelson Fowler. Prior to his election, he served six years on the Cape Carteret Board of Commissioners and on the Carteret County Board of Commissioners for two years. He is currently serving his second term as Mayor.
“I envision Cape Carteret as a town vibrant for business, comfortable for residents, and safe for both to co-exist. Essential to this end is town leadership that pledges to have quality services, a low tax rate, and an understanding that quality-of-life is the priority. Business should not encroach into residential areas; however, town leadership and residents should be mindful that a business-friendly town ensures a tax base where services for residents can be maximized at low cost. To guarantee the aesthetic beauty of Cape Carteret, any future development should be driven by what our citizens want and what will be environmentally friendly.”
