Commissioner Truax
Commissioner Minnie
Truax was born in Covington, Kentucky. She resides at 308 Lejeune Road. She
has been a property owner in Cape Carteret since 1997. She began as a part-time
resident and became moved to Cape Carteret permanently in 2003. She graduated from
Wake Technical Community College with a two year Accounting Degree and went on to earn a Bachelor's of Applied Science from Campbell University, minoring in Business Management. She is also an NC Certified Public Manager. She
retired from NC State government with 35 ½ years of service. Her job titles
included Budget/Grant Officer with NC Department of Justice in the Attorney
General’s Office, Assistant Controller/Budget Officer with NC Department of
Crime Control and Public Safety, Retail Accounting Manager with NC Education
Lottery, and Fingerprint Technician with the US Department of Justice, FBI in
Washington, DC. She is a member of NC Society of Certified Public Managers as
well as the American Society of Certified Public Managers. She has served on
the NC Criminal Justice Information Network (CJIN) Governing Board, the NC Division
of Emergency Management, and the NC Division of State Emergency Response Team
(SERT). She received the distinguished honor of ‘The Order of the Long Leaf
Pine’ in 2005. She is proud to be a member of the Cape Carteret Community Watch
and was a member of the Green Ribbon Committee for the Eastern NC Regional
Planning Partnership for the Town of Cape Carteret before becoming Commissioner.
