Commissioner Hunt
Commissioner Richard
Hunt was born on April 28, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. He earned a
Bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut University in 1971 and a Master’s
degree from Central Connecticut University in 1974. He also took extension
classes at CIA and Johnson & Wales Culinary College. He resides with his
wife Beverly True Hunt at 315 Yaupon Drive. His past occupations include
landscape design and maintenance. He is also a retired Chef instructor. Commissioner Hunt received the Employer of the Year Award in 1976 from Mid Hudson NRA and the Man of the Year Award in 1981 from Danbury Chamber of Commerce for his distinguished service to the community. He has
served three terms as a Cape Carteret Commissioner. He was the Public Safety commissioner in 2008-09 as well as 2013. He served as Finance commissioner in 2012 and currently serves as Parks commissioner. He served one year as a Carteret
County Commissioner in 2010. Commissioner Hunt has served on the Western Carteret Interlocal Agency, Crime Stoppers Board, Eastern Carolina Council, the Carteret County Beach Nourishment Board, and Carteret County Republican Executive Committee. He also served on the Parks and Recreation Board, and the County Library Board. He has served on the Civilian Military Community Council and Military Task Force sub-committee on public safety in 2008-09. Commissioner Hunt also received the United States Power Squadron meritorious service award. Commissioner Hunt served on the Eastern Carolina Council and completed Leadership Carteret in 2010. He is a director and past president of the Crystal Coast Republican Men's Club. He is a member of the Cape Carteret Baptist Church.
